"Oh, good." Etta replied slowly, skeptical. By the way Sam concealed himself behind the menu, she assumed he wasn't in the mood to talk about it. Shrugging, she turned to her own menu, flipping through the pages without really looking at the words. Her mind was on other things than food. Right now she was worried about the business of stealing a car. Etta's eyes came to rest on an appetizing picture of spaghetti, and she decided just to get that. Italian food was her favorite anyways. Sitting back in her seat, Etta eyed the back of Sam's menu, wandering how bothered he still was by going to Wyoming. She wanted to say something that would lift the mood, but nothing came to mind.

Sam stared at the menu blankly. He could feel Etta's skepticism and even the concern that was pouring out of her. He sighed, finding nothing appetizing. He would probably just grab some burger and fries. "What?" He asked when he placed down his menu and found her staring at him. "Whatever you have to say, say it, all right." He couldn't stand how she stared at him. It felt weird, not in a bad way, but just a new way, concern way; he never had that before.

Embarrassed to be caught staring, Etta glanced down quickly. She didn't say anything at first, unsure if it was wise to actually speak her mind. Etta couldn't decide if his tone was frustrated, angry, or something else entirely. Keeping her eyes on the table, she replied, "I just don't want you to be sad, or mad, or anything. You know, about going to Wyoming." She paused a second, then added, "Also, I'm worried you're not as fine as you let on." Biting her lip, Etta waited for some sort of rebuke or outburst.

Sam felt stupid. Etta was only concerned about him. Why was he always on the defensive with everyone? "I'll be all right." His voice soft as he gazed at her. "Thanks...and sorry, if I yelled at you...it wasn't meant to be directed at you..." He paused, thinking about going to Wyoming and meeting his mom. He tried to shake off his brooding feeling and returned looking at Etta, which made the feeling abate and another emerge. He gave her a crooked smile. "I never had anyone concerned about me before. I think I like it." He wondered if he said too much, and was grateful when the waiter came back. "All right, are you two ready to order?" He asked, holding his notepad and pen. He directed himself at Etta first.

Etta was astounded at Sam's confession. How was it possible that no one had cared for him? He was such a nice person, genuine and self sacrificing. Surprisingly, she felt a surge of anger. How could his mom be so clueless, how could she not love such a son? Etta smiled softly, glad that she was bringing something positive into Sam's life. Before she could say anything, the waiter came over, watching her expectantly. "Um, I'll have the spaghetti." she said, closing up her menu.

"One spaghetti." The waiter placed down the order and turned to Sam. "I'll just have the classic burger and fries." "All righty." The waiter said, "anything else I can get for ya?" He asked, wondering if Sam was a good tipper.
"I'm good." Sam said and turned towards Etta. "You want anything else?" He asked, feeling a little happier. Ha! She actually cares about me. He smirked at that.

"No, thanks." Etta said, handing her menu to the waiter. The guy smiled as he took it, then strode off. Noticing Sam's smile, Etta couldn't help but grin as well. "You seem smug about something." she said, giving him an appraising look. Of course, she could guess what it might be. Etta sipped at her water, taking great pleasure in the H20. Most people were addicted to soda, or tea, or something else, but for her water was all she ever wanted. In the back of her mind she wondered if it was because of her connection to plants.

"Ah, I guess it can't be helped; I got a pretty girl worried about me." He smiled as he teased Etta. He took a sip of his water, pleased with himself. Glancing outside, he noticed the few cars and wondered which one was the best to take. He would have to take a closer look at them when they got outside. He glanced back at Etta, and then his thoughts drifted towards Wyoming. He really didn't want to meet his mother. He secretly hoped she moved or worse...died. He instantly felt ashamed at the thought. What kind of son was he to wish his own mother's death. He frowned slightly, but quickly masked it by drinking some more water. He hoped the food would come soon, so at least he would have something to concentrate on, for being with Etta, in the silence--it was nerve racking. He placed down his drink and absently tilted the cup back and forth with his hand, wondering on what to say or do.

The blush that crept into Etta's cheeks made her feel like a little girl. Honestly, blushing was so ridiculous, even if Sam had called her pretty. Fortunately, by thinking about other things, the pink in her cheeks was quick to fade. Etta found herself wondering how many people with abilities existed in the world. In the span of a couple days she had met Sam, Micah, and Micah's helper. Who knew if there was a gifted sitting here in this restraunt right now? On that thought, Etta swept a quick gaze around the room, taking in the un-assuming patrons. Noticing the silence that had grown between her and Sam, Etta returned her gaze to him. "What is the most unique ability you've come across?" she asked, casting her voice low in case there were eavesdroppers. That would be unlikely though, since there weren't any other customers at the nearby tables.

"Hmm?" Sam asked as he stopped twirling his cup. He thought about her question as he glanced out the window. "That's a hard question...I mean, all those I've met have different abilities." He paused, thinking, "Its like asking whats the most different ice cream flavor, but what's the standard to go by?" He asked, driving deeper into the question. "I think every flavor of ice cream is unique, so I guess I think everyone with abilities are unique too." He smirked after that, "although, I did help a guy who could glow in the dark. That was...interesting." He chuckled, recalling how the guy glowed whenever the lights were out. He looked like one of those ravers that listened to techno or trance music. "We couldn't go anywhere at night without people freaking out."
"Here we go." The waiter came back with their food. Sliding the spaghetti in front of Etta, the waiter also placed Sam's order in front of him. "Anything else? More water, ketchup, coffee?"

OOC: there's no one bleeding here, is there? lol
Alicia waved to the trucker as he drove off, then looked around to get her bearings. She'd never been outside of Arizona before, and Pheonix wasn't quite as big as NYC. She spotted an restaurant across the street. Though she never ate actual food anymore--she could barely stomach the stuff--she figured that might be the best place to get an idea of where to get a job. She just hoped she wouldn't be stared at. She knew she looked like a freak, but she hoped nobody would think she actually was.

A person who glowed in the dark... that was amazing! Etta smiled a little, thinking the man would make a great night-light. As a kid she had been afraid of the dark, and in fact still had a small fear of it. "I can imagine." she said with a laugh. To see a glowing man walking around would be somewhat freaky. As the waiter came back, Etta moved her elbows off the table and sat back. "I'm good." she said to the waiter's query. Her spaghetti had also come with some garlic bread, so she picked up a slice and started with that. Etta swept a casual glance over at the front, and noticed a young woman walk in. There was something odd about the woman, but Etta couldn't quite place what it was. Maybe it was the fact she was alone. Giving a mental shrug, she let her gaze slide back to her food.

OOC: lol not yet, i assume. lol
"No thanks." He told the waiter and began eating some of his fries after the man left. He grinned, glad that he made Etta smile just a bit. He seemed to like doing that and it made him feel better too. He glanced at the spaghetti and couldn't help laughing. "You know, I'm never going to get used to the fact that Denny's serves spaghetti. Does that even...taste good?" He smirked.
Sam didn't notice the girl as she walked in, as his back was towards the front. The hostess greeted Alicia with some apprehension, but didn't question her, as she usually saw weird strangers, having this place near the highway and all. "Welcome to Denny's! How many in your party and would you like a booth or table?" She asked.

Alicia smiled at the perky hostess who asked her the questions every waiter and waitress across the country memorized. "Just me," she said. She scanned her eyes over the patrons of the restaurant. "I don't care. Either would be fine with me." Her eyes settled on a woman who had been looking at her. She considered a moment, then decided to look about an hour into the woman's future. Flashing red and blue lights. A wreaked car. Several men dressed in black like the ones who had taken her being arrested, one of them on the ground, unconscious. The woman and the man she was with injured. That was all she saw, a flash that lasted only an instant, but she knew whatever it was, was going to be bad.
OOC: fun future predictions begin! mwahaha!

OOC: Oh man... that is going to be intense. And, eyes, the more the merrier. Finishing off her garlic bread, Etta delicately twirled noodles around her fork and transfered them to her mouth. While not the most superb spaghetti she had ever eaten, the pasta was still good. Besides, she was so hungry, anything would have tasted good. "It does, actually." she said, smirking. "And how is your burger?" she asked, taking another forkful of spaghetti. Shifting her eyes, Etta glanced again at the young woman, noticing that two other people had entered.

OOC: Ooo, leave it to Jeriah to spice things up! YAY! lol
Sam laughed after finishing a bite of his burger. "All-American!" He grinned as he wiped his mouth with his napkin. He then popped in another few fries. "I don't care what anyone says, America's got talent..." He took another bite of his food.
*** "Okay, if you can please follow me, I'll sit you." the hostess told Alicia. "I'll be right back to sit you." She told Alcina and her grandmother.
She led to Alicia to a booth right behind Sam and Etta. "Is this fine?" She asked Alicia.

Alicia nodded to the hostess as she took a seat. As she settled, she found herself shaking. Okay, she was in New York City, instead of Pheonix, she had been taken by those men wearing black, who she had accidentally killed, she had no way of contacting Will. And the people behind her were going to be in trouble soon. She wondered if she could find some way to stop it. Why else would she have this future-sight gift curse thing? The problem was she had no idea how it was going to happen. Another problem came to mind as it finally struck her that she was in a restaurant and she didn't eat. She could hide the fact that she wasn't eating--she had learned how to do that around Will--but the problem was, what would she do when she got thirsty again? There were no wild animals and thousands of people here. This could cause problems. I just hope there are a lot of stray dogs and cats, she concluded.
OOC: glad to add some interest. lol
