Sam. Such a simple name for such an unsimple situation. Well, at least she wouldnt' have to be calling him Rose-man anymore. Wondering who rebel was, she followed after him, stepping behind him into the house. She stood close to him, rather afraid someone might jump out with a gun and start shooting again. The curtains were drawn shut, even though the evening light was still strong. Was this Sam's house? She doubted it. He hadn't thought of this place until after all of the shooters had been taken out. Looking about, Etta hoped to have some clarity soon.

Stepping into the house, he glanced around the dark living room. He spotted a piece of paper that read: Henrietta Garneau. Below the piece of paper was a vanilla folder. Pointing to it, Sam said, "I suppose you are Henrietta? I think that's for you."
Inside the vanilla folder consisted a new passport and other new identifications (OOC: of course you may choose the name).
After informing Henrietta of the folder, Sam immediately went to the bathroom and the kitchen for and first aid he could find for the wound he had on his hip/back. Finding some things, he lifted up his shirt as he sat on a stool in the kitchen, and began to apply alcohol on it, wincing all the while. "So...what'd you wanna know?" He asked her as he winced about.

Looking at the folder, she nodded that Sam was correct. She was Henrietta. Setting her tulip down, she then picked up the folder and opened it slowly. The contents were unexpected, and shocking. They wanted her to be Amy Collins? The name was printed on multiple forms, including a new passport and birth certificate. She didn't know what to think, standing there staring at this new life someone else had planned for her. Sam spoke then, causing her to jump, startled. He had moved to a different room. Etta found him in the kitchen, tending to his wound. "Why?" was all she could think to say.

Sam couldn't help but scoff. "You're asking that after we were chased down by a tactical team?" He grimaced as he placed a gauze on his wound. He sighed after he placed his shirt down. "All right, the simple answer: You're special, just like me. That's why we're being hunted down like animals. The government is rounding us up for only god-knows-what!" He got up and walked over to her. "You've got a chance that a lot of us wish for: you get to disappear. Vanish from the grid. You get to run." He said, looking slightly downcast.

This wasn't what Etta wanted. She didn't think she deserved it. Something Sam had said struck her then, and she looked up at him, remembering how he had taken the gun from the agent. There were other's with abilites. That was the least surprising revelation of the day. The affirmation came as a relief. Still, it didn't ease the situation much. There was always France. At least she could be with her aunt there. Noticing the change in Sam's mood, Etta realized how rude she was being. He had risked his life to give her a second chance. "Thank you, Sam. This isn't what I was expecting, or what I want, but you've given me the chance to make it good. I'm just sorry a good person like you can't have that too."

Sam shrugged. "We all deserve it, I think. Just cause we're different, doesn't mean we're animals." He said and then glanced at her envelope of freedom. He let out a soft sigh as his eyes envied the folder, but after a moment, it went away. "Well, I'm not that good of a person. Besides, Rebel needs me here to fight. Apparently I'm his only in on playing both sides at the moment, although, that might be a problem after today..." He paused, wondering who those guys were and why he didn't recognize them if they were of the same vast team. "Anyways, you've decided where you wanna go? I'm assuming Rebel wants me to make sure you get on the plane or something." He said as he pulled out a car key he had found in the bathroom. "Looks like it belongs to a Cadillac. I hate Cadillacs...bulky things..." He commented idly.

Again there was the mention of rebel. Clearly this was the guy helping people like her, and Sam, escape capture. She wished she could thank him, too. Leaning against the edge of the kitchen counter, she thought over Sams question. "I have an aunt in France. I was thinking I might go there." Etta trailed off, thinking about the rest of her family. Her grandparents and mother and father. She felt a sudden well of despair at having to leave them, especially her parents. After losing her brother, they had become very protective of her, very attached. Although she would still be living, it was almost like they would be losing her. Swallowing back a rising lump in her throat, she looked at Sam again. "Do you think I could make a couple last stops before I have to go?"

Sam nodded. "France is good." He thought out loud. He raised an eyebrow at Etta's question. "Um, sure, I guess, but we'll have to be careful. Our escape is bound to be noticed. I mean, they're probably watching your family and friends..." He trailed off, realizing that was probably where she wanted to go. "Well, that didn't sound encouraging did it?" He sighed. "Its probably not a good idea to see them right now...unless its really important; I'm not in the mood of getting shot at twice today."

Trying not to seem too dissapointed, Etta shook her head. "No, its not dire or anything. That's what cellphones are for, right?" Tapping the folder in her hands, she formulated more plans in her head. Currently it consisted of moving to France, living close to her aunt, and opening another boutique. However, there was a part of her that wanted to stay here and help her kind. But she didn't really have any useful skills unless there was a large tree nearby. Plus, she didn't like violence. Running away just seemed cowardly though. "This rebel..." she said after a moment, "could I meet him?"

Sam blinked at Etta after she asked to meet Rebel. No one just asked to meet Rebel, Rebel finds you. He felt his phone vibrate again. Speaking of... He pulled out his phone.
Have her meet me at 5th and Pine St. I'll be waiting. Sam couldn't help but scoff at himself.
"Well, it looks like Rebel wants to meet you too." Somehow, he had a feeling Micah had planned this meet all along. "Well, I guess we better be going, but I should warn you, Rebel won't be what you expect, but don't underestimate him. I don't know how he does what he does, but its..well...its pretty amazing, and I would give my life for him." Sam said as he gestured for Etta to follow to the car.

Elated that she could at least have this one meeting, Etta followed Sam in good spirits to the car. Before leaving, she grabbed her tulip, just in case... The cadilac was as Sam had said, bulky. Climbing into the passenger seat, she buckled herself in. So, rebel wouldn't be what she was expecting. Which might be true. In her mind she invsioned a tall man, with a serious demeanor and perhaps a gruffness about him. She expected a hero. It was odd, though, that he wanted to meet her after she had just asked for the same. Was he gifted with an ability as well? As she pondered these things, Etta absently stroked the tulip, taking comfort in its soft petals.

Sam followed Etta out into the hot backing sunlight and stared at the car. "I swear, he does it on purpose..." He referred to the largeness of the car, which he had expected. Getting in the driver's seat, Sam started the engine and pulled out of the driveway.
Knowing the drive was going to be awhile, he turned on the radio. "No, I want to make it perfectly clear that there was no terrorist bombing. The flower shop was just another victim of gang violence. We're currently trying to locate the store owner and manager of La Petit Boutique, but are so far unsuccessful. We're confident that we will locate her soon..." "And that was New York Police Department Spokesperson, Neil Strong on the update of a gang-related violence at a New York local flower shop. Witnesses say that La Petit Boutique's owner, Henrietta Garneau was seen being chased out and kidnapped by an unknown man. No details of the man has been released, but police are hopeful."
Sam gaped at the news. How the heck did they put that story out already?! Although, it seemed like a good thing that they didn't know who he was. "Well, this makes this more difficult." Sam told Etta as the news went on, describing the flower shops establishment and it even had an audio of Etta's mom pleading with the kidnapper to bring their daughter back.
"They're really going all out on this thing." Sam stared at the radio. "And so quick. They really want you...I mean, why all the trouble. And also, think about all the cash it takes to put out a story like this....we're gonna have to be very careful."
The news further commented on Etta's "tragic" life and how her brother was hit by a taxi cab. Sam was surprised on that and immediately shut the radio off. "I think we've heard enough." He said as he got on the freeway.

The radio report was definitely unexpected. Etta wanted to laugh at their explanation of a gang violence. After all, what gang wouldn't want to destroy a flowershop? However, they weren't too far off about the kidnapping. She looked askance at Sam, wondering what he thought. He seemed surprised, like she was. The news report got a little more intense when her mom's tear-strained voice came on. There was only one other time she rememberd her mom sounding so desperate and bereft. Etta couldn't stand it, couldn't stand that she was doing this to her. Fortunately, there was only a little of her mom played, before the crisp voice of the news reporter came back. He was doing a good job making her life seem a sappy drama. The only tragedy was her brothers death, which of course was brought up, in detail. They lingered a moment on Hector Garneau's carefree nature, and Etta could see clearly in her mind his radiant smile. The news reporters voice was suddenly cut short by Sam. She hastily swept away a stray tear, feeling foolish for crying after so many years. Once she was sure she was tear-free, she glanced over at Sam. "Do you have any family, Sam?"

Sam pretended he didn't see Etta whip away a tear. He didn't blame her, if what the radio said, she lost a brother in an accident. Sam concentrated on the drive as Etta turned away. "What?" Sam blurted out, surprised at her question. He was silent for a bit before replying, "None that I talk to anymore." He replied honestly, but evasively." He turned a corner and headed down 4th Street. He kept an eye out for Pine St, trying to avoid talking about his family.

Clearly, family was a touchy subject for her rescuer. Etta looked away, thinking it was sad that he had no close family relationships. Perhaps that lack of connection made his job easier. Closing her eyes, Etta let her head fall back against the carseat. She tried to think of how these strange people had known of her gift. True, she did speak openly to her plants, any customer could have testified to that. But, how could that alone prove she had a power. Many people talked to their plants, it wasn't a totally unusual habit. How could her ability be a crime, particularly when she'd never used it to harm anyone. Except for the guy on the motorcycle. Her brow furrowed as the scene replayed in her mind. She hadn't harmed that man, though. The tree had. Finding that train of thought leading nowhere, Etta's thoughts turned again to rebel. They should be close now. Opening her eyes, she watched the neighborhood homes pass by. She glanced once at Sam, wondering what he was thinking. Before she could be caught staring, Etta glanced away, letting her gaze settle on the tulip. At least it's warmed up. she thought absently.

Sam felt awkward with the sudden silence that crept into the car. He was about to open his mouth to start some lame conversation, maybe about the weather, when he spotted Pine St. He turned, probably a little too sharply, into the designated road. "Let's see...I think its...yes...right here." He found a free area to park and slipped the large car in between to others. "You ready?" He asked, wondering what she was thinking.

By the time Sam had parked, the evening was late, the sun low in the horizon. How drastically her day had changed. "As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose." she said, tucking the folder underneath one arm and cradling her tulip in the other. Etta nodded, took a breath, and let herself out of the bulky cadilac. Her gaze wandered over the area, wondering what the destination was. A cool breeze stirred her hair. Looking down at the tulp, she worried it might not survive the night. "Bon courage." she muttered, touching a petal.

Sam looked around, spotting nothing that screamed: "I'm over here!" Sighing, he wondered what Micah was up to, especially when the location consisted of a large arcade place, a pizza joint, and some minor businesses. He stopped short and turned his gaze back on the arcade place. "This way." Sam told Etta, curious on why she was talking to a plant about courage. "Does it talk back?" He asked as he pointed at the tulip and walked over to the arcade.
As he awaited an answer, he was startled when one of the arcade video games flashed sporadic and annoying lights all around it. "PLANT YOURSELF HERE!" The screen read. Sam nearly broke out a thundering laugh. "Well, I'm glad he's having fun." He pointed at the large arcade, wondering if Etta got the pun.

Etta looked sharply at Sam, wondering if he was being sarcastic. Seeing that he was not, she shrugged. "Sometimes. It's not really words, though." She noticed then where they were headed, and couldn't help but stare incredulously. An arcade? Was this hero a kid or something? Was this the base of operations? Drawing closer to the arcade, it was hard to miss one of the games flashing message. Etta was taken aback by Sam's mirth, revealing that he was not so serious after all. At least not all the time. She couldn't help but smile as well.
Approaching the game and its witty demand, Etta "planted" herself before the flashing screen. Now what? Was this a test? If she beat the high score would she be allowed to finally meet this rebel? She desperately hoped not. Video games were not her forte. Feeling a bit nervous, she fidgeted with the hem of her jacket. "I haven't been to an arcade since I was sixteen." she said to Sam. "Kind of brings back some memories." Hector had loved the things, and as the older sibling, Etta was the designated escort.

Sam thought about what Etta said about the plant. So did that mean plants had feelings? (OOC: You know, I just realized, Etta and Julian would not get along...she'll probably classify him as a serial killer of plants. lol).
Sam leaned against the old fashioned arcade as Etta sat down. Glancing around, he wondered what Micah was up to. "Yeah, never really been to one." Sam said absently. "Usually had to stay home and clean up the bott--" He stopped short, not wanting to divulge about his alcoholic mother or the beatings for that matter.
"Excuse me?" A kid in a red baseball cap tapped Etta. "Do you have change for a dollar?" Micah asked Etta. Sam said nothing as Micah appeared, instead, he began to survey the area, making sure no one would come barging in and chase them all.
