As he was bustling about, Logan was walking backwards, telling his photographer to get good shots when he bumped into someone. "Sorry...I guess I should be watching where I'm going." He turned around, an apologetic smile on his lips. His smile vanished when he realized he bumped into Hazel.
*** Julian tightened his jaw, not liking how this man instantly knew about Sahira. He kept himself calm. "I'll remember to keep them in check." He nodded his head then, after Bester agreed to meet them. "Shadow will be pleased. Do you mind?" He held up his phone. "I need to tell him that we're coming."

Hazel was beginning to breath easier, thinking she had succesfully avoided the reporter. Her shoulder was jostled when someone ran into her. Glaring she looked over at her assailant, only to realize it was the reporter. Seeing his face again so close, her headache returned with a fury. Reaching out, Hazel grabbed his arm, trying to keep herself from collapsing. There was a sudden moment of recognition, an understanding, and she remembered Logan. "Help me Logan." she pleaded, then winced as the headache stopped her from saying anything further. It clouded her mind, and her clarity was immediately lost again. Who was Logan? She needed to find Cain, he could help her.

"What the?" Logan said as Hazel grabbed him. "Hazel!" He exclaimed as she seemed confused and in pain. Help me, Logan. Logan froze. She recognized him! "Hazel, what's wrong? Hazel?" Her eyes seemed clouded and it appeared different from the clarity she seemed to have only seconds ago. He tried searching them, wondering what he could do...why she was in trouble.

Through her headache, Hazel knew she was causing a scene. Cain would be dissapointed that she had drawn attention to him because of her. She needed to get to him, and this reporter was in the way! But, why did she want to stay with him? Part of her wished he would take her away from here, kidnap her. What a ridiculous thought. "I don't know you." she muttered, not liking the way he was watching her, concerned for someone he "knew". Letting go of his arm, Hazel walked unstably towards Cain, keeping her head down.

Logan watched Hazel go, knowing that he couldn't make her do anything, for he knew that something was wrong with her now. It was as if two people were occupying her body. He glanced over to Senator Kane, knowing that he was involved. I'll help you, Hazel. Logan swore to himself.
*** Cain turned to see Hazel staggering towards him. "What happened to you?" He asked her, eying her again. Is her real self trying to take over again? He glanced behind her, to Mr. Monroe, who was watching them...too closely. He would have to do something about him, but first, he would have to get Hazel cleared up.

Finally reaching Cain, Hazel placed a steadying hand on the buick. "I don't know." she said, not in the mood to get into it. "My head just really hurts." Bending, she clambored into the car, wanting nothing more than to be gone from the confusion. She looked over once, letting her gaze linger on the reporter. Shivering, she slid deeper into the buick, blocking herself from sight.

"We'll take care of that, when we get home." Cain replied as Tom helped him inside the car. He would have to send someone to take care of Logan. He had no doubt that reporter was asking too many questions, which probably got Hazel to reemerge at some level. He figured that he'll send Bester to do the job once he joins him...or maybe Riker. He could make it a whole publicity act. It would ensure the need to eradicate those with powers. He reminded himself to give Hazel and himself the necklaces he created that would protect their minds from being read from Bester.
The Buick pulled out and they headed back to Virigina.
** Logan watched as Hazel's image disappeared into the black sedan. He stood there for a moment, before turning around and heading back to the Bugle. He needed to do some research. He was certain that Hazel was being held captive by Kane somehow...but how...and why?

Terrisa took the seat indicated to her and smiled pleasantly. She had read this woman's profile and knew she was a professional boxer. She might have to be careful and be ready to jump, knowing Sahira could easily beat her if it came to a fight. "Thank you. I just had a few questions about a certain group of people you have been associated with." She took out a few photos of some prime candidates that Sahira might be able to identify, including Alfred Bester, Julian Riker, and Tamora Greene. There were also a few others from her list back in the office. "Do you know any of these people?" she asked carefully. ~~~~~ Bester smiled at the reaction he got from Riker, knowing how uncomfortable he had made him. He gestured when Julian held up the phone. "Go ahead," he said, "Though I'm sure you won't actually be speaking to him." More likely the woman who had called and sent Riker to his home.

Trying to seem as docile as possible, Sahira sat down as well. With some effort, she managed a small, innocent smile. However, seeing the picture of Julian, she couldn't help but stiffen and grow angry. It shouldn't have been much of a suprise that the feds had his picture. Still, it caused her no shortage of anxiety. And then there was the picture of Tamora, who she had recently come to terms with. Swallowing hard, Sahira shook back her hair, trying to restore a clueless demeanor. "No." she said, her voice a litte more gruff than she wanted. "Sorry, but none of these people are familiar to me." Clasping her hands together, Sahira looked up at her interrogater, trying to seem harmlessly frustrated. "Look, ma'am, I told you, I'm not this Linden woman. She probably knew these people, but I don't. We have nothing in common."

"No, I won't be...and could you please stopped doing that." He asked, referring to the telepathy. "Its getting annoying, and there are some things I rather keep secret." He sneered as he dialed the number Hazel got him. He let the phone ring.
*** Back at the Bugle, Logan sat staring at a pencil on his desk, that he was rolling back and forth with his finger. How was he going to help Hazel? He wondered to himself, his story on today's congressional session forgotten. He continued to push the pencil back and forth, forgetting that one of his siblings was coming in to have lunch with him...

OOC: do I sense a hint coming from you, Max? lol.
Terrisa saw how the woman visibly tensed at the pictures. So she recognized some of them. She gave a calm smile at Sahira's defensive tone, trying to make her relax. "I never said you were since you corrected me," she said. "I was only wondering if you could clear up several things for me. You see, I've received files on these and a few others, along with warrents for all their arrests. They are all labeled 'dangerous.' But a problem I have with the warrent is that very few of them have actually done something worth the arrest, recorded at least. I was hoping you could help my confusion." She hardly expected Linden to go along with her, but this was her one shot for answers. She only hoped her boss wouldn't call. ~~~~~ Bester shook his head as Riker dialed his phone. "Nope, I can't stop it at all, especially with how loudly you enjoy to think. I could hear you clear across down the street." ~~~~~ Dave walked into the Bugle building, starving and looking forward to his brother giving him a free meal. He'd already eaten a few hot dogs from his favorite stand, but he was glad he was getting something more wholesome today. He found Logan looking like he was working busily, but he also had a distracted look in his eyes. "How was the Senate meeting or whatever?" he asked, sitting on the chair near his brother's desk.

Near the end of the drive home, Hazel's headache had began to fade to a small throb at the back of her head. She had rode with her head resting against the cool glass of the window, finding some comfort there. Now, she sat up and yawned, wanting to get out of the buick and begin her search for that Deo man. Her phone rang then, and checking the number, she smiled and looked over at Cain. "Riker's works quickly." she said, then flipped the phone open, brining it to her ear. "Hello Mr. Riker. Do you have him?" ****
Sahira wanted to laugh in the woman's face. She didn't even know why she was arresting these people! However, there was no mistake that Julian, and herself, were dangerous. They each had a few dead bodies in the past. Of course, the killings had mostly been in self defense, at least in her case. As much as she wanted to tell the cop why these people were being hunted, Sahira witheld. If she gave any sort of hints, it would no doubt raise suspicion. "Some people are just misunderstood." Sahira finally said, staring Terrisa in the eyes. "Look, why don't you just ask your superiors? If they can't, or won't, tell you why, I suggest you seriously consider if what they want you doing is right." Sahira paused, glancing down at the photos. "Do these people have anything in common? Besides apparently the lack of a criminal record."

Julian withheld throwing electricity at Bester for his comment, knowing that Shadow wanted him alive. "Yes, he's here with me now." Julian told Hazel, wondering how long it'll take her to get to the gas station. It'll probably take him less than a minute if he concentrated on her directions, but no more than 5.
*** Cain stared at Hazel during their ride back, wondering why she was beginning to be harder to control. He wondered if Hazel had an expiration date. He wondered if he used her too much. He wondered if that stupid reporter had anything to do with it. He made a mental note to look back into her past...make sure she didn't have anything that would come back and disrupt his plans. "Of course he does...he wants the formula." Cain muttered as Hazel answered the phone, sounded more like herself.
*** OOC: maybe...lol
Logan snapped out of his thoughts, a startled look in his eye as Dave walked in. "Dave, what are you doing here?" He glanced up at his brother and then blinked, recalling that he invited Dave out for lunch. "Sorry...I just got a lot on my mind...it was boring, the congress thing...no one was talking...which is, you know, unusual for politicians..." He sighed. "and then I spotted Hazel..." He rambled on, glancing over to her old desk, which was across from him and now occupied by a rather large, smelly man, who was no where near attractive enough for him to stare at. "you remember her, right? She was my partner?" He glanced at Dave, hoping he wasn't reading him.

Hazel grinned. "Excellent, Mr. Riker." she looked over at Cain, giving him a thumbs up. "Be at the rendevous point in half an hour." They were about ten minutes from Cain's home now, and it would take nearly twenty minutes to get to the abandoned gas station.

"All right." Julian replied reluctantly, not pleased with the idea of being with a man who could read his very thoughts. "An half an hour then." He hung up the phone. "Looks like we're going to be stuck together for a bit longer." He told Bester.
*** Cain nodded towards Hazel's thumbs up. He reminded himself to get Hazel to wear the necklace once they reach Kane's estate.

Terrisa felt just desperate enough to not give up when Sahira suggested going to her superiors. She had already asked them, and all they were saying was that these people were dangerous and needed to be corraled. "Not a thing, as far as I can see," she said sitting back. "Some of them don't even live in California, and as far as I can see have no reason to come here." She leaned forward again, going eye to eye with the other woman. "I had a file on you, too, Ms. Linden, including a photo. There are a few brief mentions to murder cases, but there is absolutely no information about the circumstances of the deaths. I was hoping you would be willing to tell me if there are any connections between you and the rest of these people." ~~~~~ Bester only shook his head at the looks he received from Riker, heartily enjoying the man's annoyance. He deserved it after marching to his home uninvited. He considered sending him an impulse to kill himself or someone else, but decided to put it off for now. Besides, Bester was deeply fascinated with finding out who this "Shadow" was. "Ah, good," he said when Julian hung up. "We'll have a chance to get to know one another better now." ~~~~~ Dave glanced over at the desk Logan had indicated. He remembered Hazel, though not very well. He remembered she was pretty and fun to flirt with, but other than that didn't know a thing about her. He didn't even know what had happened to her. "So...Hazel got another job or something?" he asked. He frowned, having something else on his mind as well. He was still in shock over seeing Michelle over a Felicity's the other night. He wondered if Logan had heard about it yet.

So, the woman did know who Sahira really was. If she had a picture of her, she couldn't deny it any longer. Sahira tensed, ready to fight. "There's nothing to hide now." she said bitterly. With a finger, she pointed at all the pictures, then to herself. "All four of us are different. We have abilites. You know, telekinisis, morphing, flying, that sort of thing." Sahira glared at her, expecting the woman to pull a gun. "That is the only reason we are being rounded up by people like you. Cowards who are too afraid to just let us be." Sahira stood, ready to run. "So, are you going to arrest me?" she asked, pushing back the warmth that had started spreading. ***
"I need to be at that gas station in half an hour." Hazel said, grinning over at Cain. "Our teleapth will be waiting."

"Oh, joy." Riker replied sarcastically. "I'm looking forward to it." He sighed, hoping that the half hour would come soon.
*** "All right, but before you head off over there, Hazel," the car pulled to a stop, "I have a gift for you in my study." He allowed Tom to lift him to the chair again and he was wheeled inside Kane's home. "Come, come. No time to dawdle." He waited for Hazel to follow and dismissed Tom, in his foyer.
*** "Something like that..." He frowned. "She's working for Senator Kane." He told his brother and brought out a photo that one of his photographers took at the session today. Lucky for them, for they had their own little photo lab in the back. "See." He showed Dave a photo of Hazel and Senator Kane talking in the lobby. "The funny thing is, I don't think she wants to work for him...she seemed...afraid of him." Logan said with a frown. "I mean, when I first saw her, she didn't even recognize me, didn't even think she ever worked at the Bugle...but then, after the session....she gripped my arm, and told me to help her...she was really scared, Dave. It was like she was waking up from a nightmare, but only could fall back into it. What could make someone so scared to pretend they don't remember their life?"

Dave shrugged a little at Logan's question. "A power, maybe?" It seemed the obvious thing. Powers could make people do terrible things, and could do terrible things to others. Though he had rarely met anyone else with an ability, he had heard horror stories on the streets that could only be explained that way. "A telepath, a hypnotist, a commander...any of them could force her to do something she didn't want to do." His mind turned again to Michelle, as it had ever since he'd last seen her. It seemed to be stuck in that one moment when he walked in Felicity's door and saw the two of them on the couch, hugging and crying, and seeing the haggard look on Michelle's face, and he'd spied red on her arm that he suspected was a cut. For Logan's sake, he tried to keep thinking about the topic on hand, this Hazel chick. It was obvious his brother was worried about her. ~~~~~ Bester smiled and gestured again for Riker to come in with his parazlyed fist. "While we wait, do please come in. Would you care for something to drink?" OOC: I take it Riker's gonna shimmer them there? ~~~~~ Terrisa stared blankly at Sahira. She was having a hard time comprehending what the woman was telling her. Was this a joke? Flying? Morphing? Those were comic book powers, not things that happened in real life. But catching the dead serious tone in Sahira's voice, along with the threatening look in her eyes, she knew she was telling the truth. Or at least what she believed was the truth. Maybe she was crazy. She inched a little away and almost reached for her gun. She forced her voice to remain calm. "Abilities...like superpowers..." she couldn't keep the incredulity from her voice. "I'm not here to arrest you...though I have been told I will have to eventually. I just wanted to get answers." She hesitated, hardly believing she was about to ask this. "So what do you do?"

Whatever gift Cain had was bound to be good. Excited, Hazel hastily climbed out of the buick and followed after her brilliant Cain. She paused beside him in the foyer, watching him closely. "What is it?" she asked, hardly able to contain her glee. ***
So, this woman, or one of her comrades, would be back to arrest Sahira. Which meant, of course, that she would be forced to move out of LA and find someplace else to call home. She hated moving. "That's comforting." Sahira said sarcastically. The last question was one Sahira didn't intend to answer. Flying was one thing, but being able to morph into a monstrous beast was quite another thing. "If I told you, I'm afraid you would be tempted to shoot me right now." she responded, glaring at the woman. "I think you should go now. I hope you change your mind about arresting me. If not, you may want to say your goodbyes to those you love. I'll fight against injust captivity, and I know a few others who will do the same."
