The Resistance

OOC: I need some better villains. I'm completely out of my Bester mood. lol

Alicia glanced between her brother and the other girl in the room, noticing how they momentarily stared at each other. The sight made her feel a little uneasy, but she decided to be friendly.
"Let's get out of here. I'm about to go crazy being cooped up in here." She gave a smile to the newcomers, though she kept a slight distance. "I'm Alicia, by the way. Alicia Cortez, and this is my brother, Will. It's nice to meet you three." The guy standing next to the guy on the table nodded and returned her smile. Alicia turned back to Sam.
"Um...do you think we could make a little...detour before joining up with the others?" she asked him. As her dusky eyes attested, she was getting rather thirsty.

"You and me both." Max muttered to being cooped up. She crossed her arms, waiting for them to get going.

"Nice to meet you." Logan replied, being polite despite him being a bit weak still. He tilted his head, curious on what detour Alicia wanted.

Sam nodded to Alicia, understanding what she meant. "Yes, it best that you eat first." He glanced around at all of them. She wouldn't have time to eat once they reached the Resistance. He glanced over at Max. "Hey, can you teleport everyone?" He asked her, wondering the extent of her abilities.
Max thought about it. "Not really. I haven't mastered that one yet...for all I know we can teleport inside a wall. I'm not too eager to try it out."
Sam nodded. "Okay, well, I guess we'll just have to separate into two different groups. Kate takes one and Max takes one, since they are the fastest."
Max made a face. "How many people you think we can take? Its not like we can snake it through the city."
"Max, stopped being difficult." Sam replied annoyed. "Does anyone have a better idea, then?" He mostly directed it at Max, who just looked innocently away.

Alex smirked as he found Hazel on the couch. "Well, that's a rude welcome." He noted her disorientation and wondered if this was what Cain meant. He was glad Alice came in, seeming to bring the woman back under Cain's control. "Shadow has some orders for us." He walked over to the two women. "Now, as I know how much you love to give Shadow a peck on the cheek, why don't you lay one on me, you know as the messenger." He grinned, carrying the box with him. "And I welcome a freebie too." He winked at Alice.

Felicity brightened at the idea of speed running. "I can do that too!" she said, remembering a time when she had run nearly across state when she had absorbed to much energy. "I need to take in a lot of energy, but once I have enough, I ran run as fast as Kate. Probably for not as long, though. It depends on how much light I can absorb. I could probably take one or two of us!" She had actually never tried running with anyone else before, but she assumed if Kate or Max could do it, so could she.

"Don't make me puke, Alex." Hazel said with a huff. "I wouldn't kiss any part of you for a million bucks. Now, what's in the box. And what does Shadow need?" She made sure to refer to Cain as Shadow. Alice still knew him as such, and not his real identity as Cain. She felt the couch cushion beside her shift as Alice stood and skipped over to Alex. She got up on her tip-toes and kissed him on the cheek.

"So what's in the box buttercup." Alice said jokingly. The girl somehow found Alex's tactics endearing, and she played along for the most part. Hazel rolled her eyes.

Sam raised an eyebrow, considering Felicity's idea. "Well that's good. I guess you can take Dave and myself. Kate can take Will and Logan. I think Max would be best suited for Alicia." He offered, in a commanding way.

"Awesome! Girl party!" Max motioned to give Alicia a high five. "And I can take you out for some fast food." She joked with her friend. "And you can just binge!" She laughed, hoping that would appease her.

"Aw, come on Hazel. I think you're just afraid that you might enjoy it too much." He chuckled. He ignored Hazel's questions as he spotted Alice bounding toward him. A victorious smile on his lips as Alice pecked him. Now, in a merry mood, Alex was inclined to answer their questions. "You can learn a thing from Alice, Hazel." He winked at her, "I promise it'll be more fun that way, right Alice?" He gave her a playful grin. He liked her. She knew how to play along. "Well, in this beauty, is Riker's payment." He told them, knowing that Hazel would understand more completely. "Of course, just so he remembers to keep his focus." He smiled. "And Shadow, wants you to locate the Monroes again...they got away." He feighed a frown. "But, he knows we'll get them this time." He gazed over to Alice. "Shadow wants you and Mr. Beester to bring them in, especially Logan Monroe." His eyes darted over to Hazel to see how she reacted to the name. He had read in her file that she worked at the Daily Bugle. The same newspaper that Monroe worked at...they even did a few pieces together. He wondered if that was all they did together.

Felicity glanced at Dave and smirked. "You're in for a ride big brother." she said mischievously. As she spoke, she began to draw in the energy from the numerous light fixtures. They buzzed as she drew in large portions, more than she normally dared. "What's the address?" she asked Sam quickly. Once she reached her max, she would have to expend the energy quickly. And that would either be in a big dangerous blast, or a burst of speed. She grabbed Dave's hand and Sam's, in case she bolted before the address could be had.

Will frowned, shaking his head. "Shouldn't I go with Max too? I know my sister better than anyone else." he said to Sam, a bit of conflict rising in his voice. He knew that Sam had also been in a military type of position, but so had Will. He didn't like accepting orders, especially those that separated him from his sister.

"Yay!" Alice said, clapping her hands excitedly. Hazel watched her enthusiasm passively. Her mind felt strange again, like everything around her was unfamiliar and a memory was just on the edge of her conscious. "Ok." she said to Alex, her eyes hazy. "I'll only be able to locate two. I won't be able to function if I try to find any more." A bit of herself came back, and she glared at Alex. "Leave me alone while I concentrate. I can't focus when you stare at me like a hungry dog."

"Come on, Alex. I'll go make us some food." Alice took his hand and began to drag him back towards the kitchen. Hazel closed her eyes and crossed her legs up on the couch. The silence of the room helped her concentration, and soon she saw in her minds eye distant points of light. She concentrated on the name Logan Monroe. Faster than usual, a point of light came buzzing to the fore, and the others faded away. The light widened and shifted until a dingy room came into focus. The room held a group of figures, but one in particular caught her attention. Her target lay on a table, looking shaken but healthy. He spoke with others, and slowly their faces came into view as well.

"We should get back to the base..." she heard someone say, as well as other muffled words. They sounded like they were spoken underwater. Hazel watched the scene for a while, until she realized completely where they were and who. Snapping her eyes open and ending the vision, she sucked in a deep and shaky breath. Her hand came to her forehead as she felt a migraine coming on. "Alex!" she shouted in a weak voice. Logan Monroe... why did that name sound so hauntingly familiar? Why did she feel so disturbed? She needed her Cain with her. He would make everything better. Tears began to slide down her cheeks, but she was clueless to them. "Alex! Get your mangy laser shooting ass in here so I can tell you the location!"

Sam watched as Felicity absorbed the light. Whoa. So that was her power. She was a lot more brighter now, he thought. He immediately gave her an address that was closer to the entrance of the Resistance. Thank goodness they didn't have to go through the sewers. They had managed to build an entrance through an old arcade place.

As Sam finished talking to Felicity, he hoped that they would get going, but Will's protest made him rethink things. "Fine. I just thought you could help carry Logan, but if you want to be with your Sister, that'll be better." He glanced at Logan. "I'll take him. Dave, can you go with Kate then? Logan and I will go with Felicity."
"So...no girl's night out, eh?" Max seemed to pout. "Oh, well, I suppose our trio can manage some fun." She grinned mischievously at Will. "Come on, before we get stuck here."

OOC: Now...how to get Logan....

Will nodded to Sam. "Thank you." He walked over to Max and grabbed her hand. "We'll have loads of fun, Max." he said, his normal smirk coming back to his face. "You know I'm always ready for a good time." He waited, anticipating the surge of speed that would soon disorient him. The new girl, Felicity, also seemed anxious. She grabbed Sam's hand tightly, but her eyes kept a vigil on Logan.

OOC: That is the question. Perhaps they could speed over to the abandoned house first? We could say that Hazel say Logan before he was healed, so that would give them time to get to the house.

OOC: That could work... or we could have them go to the entrance of the Resistance without them realizing that...and just have a fun shoot out there....hehe...or here...I'm still thinking. Which one do you think would work best? Opps...forgot to post as Alex...

Alex frowned as Hazel didn't flirt with him. Whatever. He did notice the distant look she got when they talked about Logan, but it seemed to vanish. Cain was right. He would have to watch her for now. He smirked as Alice pulled him away.
"Excellent!" He followed her into the kitchen. "Mmm...so what are you going to make?" He asked her. He preceded to flirt with her when he Hazel rudely called out to him. Alex made an annoyed face. "Ugh. She's so bossy!" He complained to Alice. He gave her wink. "Be right back."

"What?" Alex demanded as he walked back to Hazel. "You interrupted a rather fun conversation." He told her, annoyed. He spotted her crying. "What's wrong with you?" He asked her, pointing to her wet cheeks.

Max laughed at Will's comment. "All right, I think I'm pleased with this new group." She smiled at her two friends. "Ready when you are..." She told them.

OOC: Gah! You two had a post-a-thon while I was braindead! lol, that's been happening a lot, though.

Dave watched as Felicity loaded herself up with energy, watching as she glowed brighter. He was a little concerned, knowing the potential dangers for her if she held in too much for too long. He was interested in seeing how they would handle it when suddenly who all was going with whom was switched around, and he found himself going with Kate instead. He wasn't too anxious about being seperated from his siblings, but he knew they wouldn't be apart for long.

Alicia grinned and gave Max a high-five, glad to finally get out of this place. Her excitement was dimmed, however, when Will insisted on going with them. As much as she loved him, it seemed like he was constantly hovering over her ever since he found out about her vampirism. He rarely left her sight, and she had a gut feeling he was just waiting for her to mess up.
"Just be careful when we make our detour, Will," she told him, her voice a little anxious. Normally she could control herself well enough, but when she was hunting, she would go after most anything.

OOC: Sorry! And Max, I think your idea works. I was just worried about the base not being a secret anymore or something, but it could just be a random spot in the eyes of the Exodus peeps.

Lifting a hand, Hazel touched a cheek and discovered the tears that Alex asked about. She felt a sudden sense of panic. "I don't know." she said, swiping hastily away at the wetness. "It's nothing... Look, I found out where you can get Logan... as well as his siblings. They were all together. Here." Hazel gave him the address just as Alice came back in to see what was going on. "Alice, you'll be leading this expedition. We need you to go here," and she repeated again the address, "and convince Mr. Monroe and his siblings that they will be safe with Shadow. Right now the Monroe's are with a few others, but these are bad people. Whatever they tell you, don't listen to them. They want to destroy everything Shadow, that we, have been working for." Alice nodded, totally convinced that she was working for an angel. Stupid girl.

"What if they don't want to come with us?" Alice suddenly asked. Hazel tried not to loose her patience.

"You get them here. No matter what!" she said sternly, causing Alice to blink in surprise. Hazel always tried to remain calm around her, to keep up the ruse. Her nerves felt frayed today though, and her hands, she realized were shaking. "Where's Beester?" she asked Alex impatiently.

"I'll be careful." Will confirmed. He thought he saw annoyance in his sister's face, but he ignored it. Besides Max, he was her best protection. Or so he thought.

"Guys, we better go soon. I'm about to bolt whether we're ready or not." the new girl, Felicity said. She was glowing like a lightning bug.

OOC: Okey-dokie. Sounds good to me. We'll just make it look like just a random stop for them and the bad guys would be none the wiser. lol. And...SORRY JERIAH! I told you it was a post frenzy...lol. Hurry and get your muse back! =)

Alex narrowed his eyes at Hazel, not believing her. Since when do girls cry without a reason? In his experience, girls usually cried when they were upset, annoyed, happy, giddy...well...anytime mostly...but always revolving around a boy. He wondered if she felt bad that they had to get Logan. Looks like he would have to stay behind on this one to watch her. Cain was right. She was losing it.

"All right." Alex memorized the location and took out his phone. "Alice, I'll get you and Bester some back up. These guys are just mainly man power. You just order them to do what you want. Let them know that we put you in charge...and well...I'm sure you could persuade them if they don't." He grinned at her as he began to contact the Unit stationed in that area. "Its Anderson. We got a situation..." He walked off to explain what their assignment was.

Julian shimmered in as Alice was being prepped. "I got a text that I was needed." He replied. Alex hung up his phone after he was finished and noticed Riker. "Yo, man." Julian raised an eyebrow, a little annoyed with Alex's greeting.
"Good you made it. You can help Alice and Bester get to their next assignment."
"I'm not staying with them?"
"Nah, Shadow thought you needed a break. Here!" Alex tossed the box to him. Julian caught it easily, a hungry look seemed to appear on his face, but it vanished quickly.
"Excellent. Is this...permanent?" He asked.
"No...we're still working on it...your DNA is causing some issues for the longetivity serum. We only can manage the 24 hour one. Enjoy the ride." He smirked. "Make sure you teleport Alice and Bester before you go off and have...a little fun." Alex grinned knowingly.
Julian tried not to smack the man. "All right, where's Bester?"
"Dunno. Hazel...have you tried calling the man?" Alex asked, trying to get her something to do so she wouldn't idling think of Logan.

Bester didn't want to deal with the others. They were a nuisance to him most of the time, though they could be valuable allies. He was a servant to no one, not even this Shadow. He would do what he wanted, when he wanted. So for now, he manipulated the others' minds to where they couldn't see him. And soon, they would start to forget about him for the time being.

OOC: That is seriously how anti-Bester my brain is being right now, I'm not even joking...bleh...

"We don't need him." she said, waving her hands in annoyance, Bester already fading from her mind. "Julian, you're with Alice now. Sorry about your night, but there's always tomorrow. Now you too, hurry up and get going. We have only a small window of opportunity, and we can't waste it." Hazel sighed suddenly and put a hand to her forehead. Alice was merciful enough to hop to the commands.

"Ok, Julian, it's you and me. I'm ready when you are!" Alice looked at Alex and winked, then at Hazel. The poor woman seemed frazzled almost to wits end. Alice couldn't fathom what had brought it all on.

OOC: oh jeriah. lol.

"What?" Julian replied, annoyed that his assignment was just extended. "Fine." He relented. "Let's go, Alice. Just close your eyes this time; your stomach will thank you for it." He referred to teleporting as he held out his glove hand for her. He opened the box and grabbed the serum, placing it safely in his inner jacket pocket. He tossed the box back to Alex. "Thanks." He said and when Alice was ready, teleported to the address.

Alex nodded along with Alice, the thought of Bester fleeing from his mind. Odd. He turned to face Julian just in time to catch the box. He gave a rude look, but it faded when Alice winked at him. His mood brigtened. "Have fun, kids." He joked as they shimmered away.

Alex turned his attention to Hazel. "You don't look to well, buttercup." Alex eyed her, wondering if he should call Cain so that Hazel could be put back on track.

Max nodded to Will and Alicia. "Time to go. I ain't waiting anymore. You dudes figure it out." She told the rest of them as she grabbed Alicia's and Will's hands. "Remember: No puking on the flight." She joked and switched her ability to super sonic speed. She, Will, and Alicia, were gone in seconds.

Making a pit stop, Max found a nice little place for Alicia to indulge herself. She stopped running then, and waited for Alicia to do her thing, all the while, switching back to super strength just to protect herself and Will. "Have at it!" She waved at the air.

Sam nodded to Felicity. "We need to go now." Logan nodded and held to Felicity's hand as Sam did the same. "Let's head out." He turned to face Kate and Dave. "Be safe; we'll see you guys soon."

Taking the advice, Alice clenched her eyes shut. This would be her second time teleporting, and she was not looking forward to it. Suddenly the warmth of the apartment was gone and replaced by a cool breeze. She opened her eyes to find themselves near a shady looking home. She and Julian stood in a shadowy ally adjacent to the home. The address was right, but the people weren't... her hair whoosed over her face as something sped by the alley that hid them. "Julian, that's them!" she whispered as three figures appeared near the door of the house. The women looked tired, the others worried. "Let's go!" she said, and made her way towards them, hands clenched into fists at her sides.

"Ok... here goes nothing!" Felicity said. Facing the door, which was already open from Max's passage, Felicity let go of the control of her powers. There was a tense moment, in which she fought from releasing the energy in a blast. Instead, she pushed herself forward, and the energy spent itself in motion. The run was exhilarating but tense. She maneuvered the streets of New York just barely, having trouble avoiding pedestrians and in some cases cars. The energy from the house was draining quickly, though, and it was all she could do to keep herself from stopping half way there. But their destination finally came in sight, and she gratefully came to a stop. "We made it!" she said, exultant but exhausted.

"Hey! The Monroes are coming with us!" a voice suddenly said, causing Felicity to twirl around. A woman stood behind them, hands clenched as if for a fight. Felicity looked around, trying to find a light source, but the street lamps had not yet turned on as the day was somewhat early still. Feeling useless, she glanced at Sam anxiously.

Sam's senses blurred as he sped with Felcity. He could barely see where they were going and wondered how Felicity was able to do it. He just hoped they wouldn't hit anything.

Logan's stomach lurched as Fe sprinted them away. It felt like a rollar coaster ride. Just twist and turns. Logan disliked those things, and his stomach agreed with him wholeheartadly. Once they stopped, Logan gasped for air, trying to settle his stomach. "Good job, Fe Fe." He muttered, hunched over.

Sam blinked, getting his barings back. "Thanks Ms. Monroe." Sam thanked her just as another voice echoed in. He didn't recognize it and twirled around to face Alice and another man.

"Hey, wait a sec..." He muttered, feeling a bit nervous for getting the Monroes. He just hoped Sahira didn't show. He didn't want to fight her, even though to keep up the pretenses. He had told her about Shadow and his offer. He told her everything;not wanting to keep anything between them. He persuaded her that this was the only way for him to get the cure for himself. He would play this side and feed her as much information without getting her in trouble. He wasn't able to disclose Hazel or Alex's identity to her, for some thing or thought always seemed to make him forget. He had a feeling they did something to him. So, to protect Sahira and the Resistance, he limited contact as much as possible. However, the serum that was in his pocket right now was tempting him to use it. He had hoped that he could study it...but for some reason too, he couldn't recall any of his biochemical knowledge. He wondered if someone was messing with his mind....making him a liability.

He groaned when Alice went over to grab the Monroes. Here goes. He thought and followed suite.

"And what makes you think that?" Sam asked, his arms turning metallic. He had no idea who these two people were, but he didn't think they were on their side.
"Easy..." Julian eyed Sam, Felicity, and Logan. His eyes darted to Logan. Thats the one they wanted the most..."We're not hear to cause trouble. Our boss just wants to talk to them."
